PASTOR, ALFRED L. HATCHETT

Pastor Alfred L Hattchett

In 1980 Elder Alfred L. Hatchett received the Lord into his life, and joined Refuge Fellowship Church of God in Christ in Germantown, PA. In 1982 he left to serve at Holy Temple Church of God in Christ in West Philadelphia under the leadership of Bishop O.T Jones Jr, where he was called to the ministry. He served faithfully, and subsequently preached his trial sermon. After a while, Bishop Jones decided it was time for Elder Hatchett to take the test for ordination and upon successfully passing the examination, he was ordained an Elder in the Church of God in Christ.

While at Holy Temple, Elder Hatchett served in several ministries, including Sunday School, Young People's Willing Workers (YPWW), and was later appointed by Bishop Jones as the Youth Pastor of over two hundred young people. He served from 1983 to 1989 when he moved to Delaware and became a Wilmington Police officer. He was asked by Elder Ross B. Rainey to help in the Mother Church of God in Christ, where he not only became an Associate Minister, but also the Sunday School Superintendent. Elder Hatchett served in that capacity until the passing of Elder Rainey, at which time he returned to Holy Temple working under the tutelage of Elder Hargrove. In 2008,

Elder Riley, Pastor of the Mother Church of God in Christ, asked for his help, and he gladly accepted, and was later appointed as the Assistant Pastor of the Mother Church.

In 2012, the Lord led Elder Hatchett to Canaan Baptist Church where he served as an Associate Minister and head of Security.  In 2016, after his mission was fulfilled, he went back to his COGIC roots and was thereafter appointed Pastor of Gospel Time COGIC in Wilmington, DE.  In July 2017, following God's divine plan, he became the Founder and Pastor of Refuge Christian Fellowship Ministries, Inc.

Pastor Hatchett holds a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, and a Master’s degree in Administration of Justice, with a concentration in Criminal Behavior, from Wilmington University. He was a special Education teacher at the Thomas Edison Charter School, and has successfully completed courses in Biblical Studies from several Bible colleges, including Lutheran Theological Seminary.

He's currently a member of the New Castle County Community Services Advisory Board; Delaware Association for Children of Alcoholics; the Delaware Health Resources Board, where he made sure the less fortunate and indigent had the same quality of medical service as the insured; and has had community service involvement with the Red Cross and Election Board for over 20 years.

He shares his life and ministry with his lovely wife, First Lady, Mitzie A. Hatchett.
